Product Description
Targetted at speed enforcement and vehicle counting applications, Geolux RSS-2-300 T is a Doppler radar speed sensor operating in K-band, enhanced with advanced phyTrack vehicle detection and tracking algorithm. Designed for traffic applications, RSS-2-300 T radar sensor reports a list of all currently detected vehicles up to 20 times per second over serial or CAN interface. RSS-2-300 T sensor supports ASCII-S and GLX-NMEA serial interface data protocols, and support for more protocols can be added on customer request.

Advanced phyTrack vehicle detection and tracking algorithm analyses detected vehicle speeds in real time, and extracts precise target statistics data such as total vehicle count, average speed and road utilisation.

Speed Limit Enforcement

Detection and precise measurement of over-speed vehicles and objects. The measured vehicle speed is reported over RS-232, RS-485 or CAN data link interface. Additionally, two open-collector alarm outputs can be configured to trigger alarms on various events (overspeed detected, vehicle detected, etc). The radar is able to track up to 32 targets simultaneously, in order as they approach or recede from the radar. The radar can be either permanently mounted on the side of the road or above the road, or it can be temporarily deployed on the tripod during routine police speed-checks.

Advanced Traffic Statistics

Advanced vehicle detection algorithm built in RSS-2-300T enables precise vehicle counting on single-lane roads. For multiple lane roads multiple sensors can be used – one above each lane. The vehicle statistics data can either be stored on the radar Flash memory and retrieved later, or it can be retrieved continuously over radar’s RS-232, RS-485 or CAN data link. The traffic statistics data collected by the radar, such as road occupancy histogram, 85th percentile speed or percentage of over-speeding vehicles can help you to better manage your traffic. Ideal replacement for loop induction sensors, as radar installation does not require road works.

Wrong-Way Detection

According to NTSB’s 2012 report, wrong-way driving is one of the leading causes of fatal accidents on highways. RSS-2-300T radar sensor is preferred, low cost solution, for detecting vehicles driving in wrong direction on highways. The radar can be installed both on slip roads where vehicles enter the highway, and directly on the highway. The radar can interface ITS system or Variable Message Signs through open-collector alarm line that will be active whenever a vehicle driving in the wrong direction is detected.

Smart City Lighting

Energy-efficient smart cities optimise street lighting on streets with low traffic volume by dimming the street lights – or turning them completely off – when there is no traffic present. Many streets with low traffic volume during the night can experience high energy savings, and light pollution is also highly reduced. Geolux RSS-2-300T radar sensor is an ideal traffic-presence detector for such smart city lighting systems. Its long detection range (500 meters) enables the lighting system to gradually dim up the street lights as the vehicle approaches, thus reducing the flash effect on the driver.
